i have a vauxhall vectra sri 140 16v,
the problem is the cam belt and piston have bent at only 40,000 miles.
i have been told its going to cost me in the region of 3,000 pounds.
could i get an engine cheper and get some one to fit it for less than 3 grand .
maybe you could get a replacement at a breaker - what year is she? If you want to replace it for another 140bhp engine you will have to hunt around for one, would be cheaper to replace with a 2.0 or 1.8 though - pleanty of them around, you can buy second hand and fit for under 3k. depends what you want!
If only 40k miles and F/S/H and under 4 years old Vauxhall dealer you purchased from may offer you a deal (at their discretion), if not contact their head office and say basicly you have f/s/h only done 40k miles, isnt even due for a cambelt change and its snapped and what they gonna do about it!
