Engine already in car, piped up and just requires a few extra tweeks. Cozvaux can do it but they are in sheffield and we r near worcester. Does anyone know of anyone with the knowledge to get it running closer to us.
Help greatly appreciated.
Paul:)

It is late ecotec

Ecotec with rolling keycode immobilizer key and ecu which needs blowing. Bought engine cheap but were supplied with wrong loom, bloke selling had 3 and gave us wrong one.
Should be fun when its done.

ok so how r u planning to get round the ecu immob code?

also what have u done with the extra engine mount?

and the speedo...

which stage are u at with the wiring and what year/model mk2 is it going into?

hope uve done the suspension + brakes too

If you haven't got the origional wiring cav fan wiring and relays then I would recomend the following.

Cut the top wire to the fan fuse and connect the fuse end to a thick red wire for +12v. This will allow the fan to run when the ignition is off like V6's do.

Bodge in a relay for the temp sensor in the thermostat housing to work. (important)

If you have the electrical water pump fit another relay (5 pin type or NC)

If you have the fan alternator cooler wire across the fan.

Project.

Original engine mount cut out on drivers side, new bracket welded in, V6 engine mount now bolts nicely to inner wing. Cooling taken care of with custom made rad that only just fits, It is the max size for hole. Pacet 10" fan arriving 2 morrow. Relays not a problem.
Cars got spax adjustables all round, 17" x 215, and custom made calculated springs. Brakes are after its running.
Cosvaux say they can wire it up, they've got quite a few bits lying around, sure they can knock something up, can someone closer by do it?

Cosvaux

Went to c them to check out their facilities, better than our local bunch. If they say they can do it for a set quote and cant they dont get paid.If it runs, they do.
If its too much of a problem well just have to sack the entire injection system and go for throttle bodies.

Loom

Think we were given the 3 litre loom but havent had chance to compare anything yet. The loom off the older cavalier setup had a very similiar plug to our engine when we saw one at cosvaux, the one on the loom we have got is longer. An old loom would bypass keycode problems because it wouldnt have any.

hmmm, hope u can get the key from the donar car - its the only hope - without either...

1) - havin the chassis, vin, engine number etc etc from donar car and proof of ownership + addy to get vaux to get u a programmed key blank (to b cut to suit ur ignition barrel)

2) - forking out for a new ecu

neither of these options r cheap

IF u do have the original key then u can simply get a copy of the "code" made onto a new key for ur existing ignition barrel

u'll need 90444156 if u take that route - assuming of course that the early and late types are compatable, with only the immob being different. just checkin with TIS to see...

Ecu

Have got ecu to fit loom that came with engine, must be worth something to someone! The lad who owns the car was an electronics engineer, if we had the diagrams im sure we could make it work but hed rather just pay someone else to do it if the price is not ridiculous.
Hes got to do something as his little brothers Mi16 205 goes like stink and so does my 2.1 Vindicator.

burnt

Have been told it is possible to blow ecu or possible to place ecu we buy in another car and read ecu codes on diagnosis loom. Dont know enough about the basic funcions and processes of the loom as yet to start thinking a way around it. Plus the fact you get the usual bull to wade through from people who say they know what they are talking about. Only just started researching the problem but we'll crack it i'm sure.

never heard of "blowing the ecu" and neither tech1 or tech2 will read the ecu "codes" - fault codes yeah, but not immob codes.

messing with any loom, anywhere wont help - its not a case of simply connecting 2 wires 2gether - the ecu needs to "see" the correct numbers in the correct order.

if that last comment was aimed at us, id like to point out we've not long finsished a mk3 astra v6 convertable - which took a month or so of reasearch and was up and running within a weekend (see feature in novembers total vaux). This wasnt an "easy" conversion - and all the research that i personally did (with access to vaux parts info) was very very useful. im happy to share as much as i can with u, if u want to listen

loom

As I said, you get all sorts of info about this sort of thing and no the last comments were not a dig at u. The sort of people we are trying to find is the ones who have already done it. Not easy as we found last week, went to tracks and only came across 1 mk2 astra V6 and that was the old engine setup.
Will find out exactly what loom, engine details we have and re post.
Cheers.
Paul.

Mmmm, second thoughts on that loom guys. The 3.0 will be different. Remember the harness round the back of the inlet manifold on mine? Well, on the 3.0 the engine is a totally different configuration up top. Mainly due to the fact that the 3.0's were never fitted to FWD cars so the inlet is different. So the loom maybe different in design as it'll have a different routing and harness.

Not sure on compatibily on this. Although they will do the same functions it may just not fit.
