help with corsa c 1.2

hey, my girlfriends 51 plate corsa c 1.2i has intermittant problem. when engine is under load but not getting thrashed it just stutters like a misfire on all cylinders then jumps back to life only to do it again unless you drop a gear and thrash the **** from it. she drove from oban to kendal on friday when it first occurred and phoned aa man from the side of the road (m6) only to sit there for 3 hours for the aa man to say that as ecu light was not on he couldent help other than to give the phone number of a nearby garage in shap!! i have ran it with airflow meter disconnected which helped alot but never cured. car is getting fuel at a decent pressure on idle but not sure about under load i assume it should. going to give it a good service plugs filters etc. any one know of anything that may help and part numbers for plugs???? thanks guys
