Newbie help with Nos on a vectra B gsi please

Hi all i own a 99 Vectra B gsi and have just bought a NOS dry kit for it before i go by the manual provided a friend mentioned this forum so i thought i'd drop a post in asking for any help or tips etc.

i wonder how many people have but this kit on the 2.5 V6? does any1 have any pictures of where abouts they put there nozzle etc

any help would be much appreciated, thanks people

Is it a direct port or a single nozzle kit?

I'd assume without some better engine management its going to create a few headaches running a dry kit as you will be relying on the standard ECU to throw more fuel in which I'd imagine won't be the best way.

A guy on here called Chip will be the best person to ask.

I have thought about doing this myself, But where to put there nozzle for optimen performance is going to be hard as the vectra intake plenum is far to long and restrictive, Plus there is the butterfly valves that are in the way.

So mounting the nozzle at the start of the intake is out of the question in my eyes, but further down the inlet its to late as the top half has already split into two halfs and then in to 6 at the bottem half.

Than why, If get mine im going to get a direct port (multi nozzle) system and drill and tap the manifolds just above the inlet of the engine, so i know that each cylinder is get a matched amount

    hi guys

if i mounted the jet just before the butterflys that wouldnt be a problem would it as the kit would only inject nitrous at full throttle meaning the butterflys would be wide open??

Sorry I cant help you, as I wouldnt go near a dry kit on that engine, you'll end up running lean and melting it.
The only useful advice I can give you is dont fit it, sell it, and buy a (preferably wizards of nos) wet kit instead.

Re: Newbie help with Nos on a vectra B gsi please

why would it run lean? its designed to inject more fuel from the stock ecu according to the manual?

also there's the fuel safety switch thats supposed to shut the nos of if the fuel supply is to weak?

im not very mechanicly minded and have just gone by what ive been provided and on paper it seems ok hopefull you can enlighten me on why its gona fail

    cheers mate

because its standard engine and management, the nitrous cools the mixture down and of course adds Oxygen. The standard management will struggle to match the O2 increase and will also not recognise the drop in mixture temp, therefore not compensating with enough extra fuel. Would imagine its a bomb waiting to go pop! wet is much more simple!

ah ok well ive blown 2 engines in the past non vauxhall but turbo's and both from bein lean so ive no intention top make my vectra the 3rd!!!

will get on to real steel and convert the kit to wet and try again, am i right that the nozzle can be placed before the butterfly as it will only activate when they are fully open??

yes before the throttle body is fine mounted in the rubber. a wet kit is definately the one to use as the fuel jet is usually slightly larger as a built in safety factor thus no chance of running lean. i would like to try a 75hp shot on a v6 without a controller. i reckon it could take it no probs. by the time the throttle plate microswitch disconnects and shuts the solenoid the butterflys going to close after the nitrous has disapeared through it. buy a big 15lb bottle. you'll need it as you'll soon get tired of running out just when it is required.

Its got a long way to travel if you mount it before the throttle plus theres the buttle flys at the right hand side of the plenum and you might not get a even mixture between all 6 cyclinders

so without nos then are you saying that the air/fuel ratio between all 6 cylinders is not even. your not going to run enough nitrous to do any damage to a v6 c'mon

yeah thought so the nos will be gone before the butterflys shut im hopin, the plan is to get to 100 shot so ive got 3 jets from 40 to 75 and if its cool running them i'll order a 100 size jet,

real steel are ringing me tomo to change the kit to wet, im also changing the flywheel to a lighter 1 im guessin this is a common thing and wondered if there is a big differerence

If you get onto VVOC.COM there's a good few people tried and tested Nitrous out on their GSI's with good results.
I'd maybe ask on there. Dut deffo scrap that Dry kit and get a wet Kit instead. Something like a Wizards of Nos Streetblaster 100i Kit
