my corsa xe currently has no speedo cable so i never know how fast im going lol
basically i need to know if there are different types of speedo cables for xe's and how to find out which one i will need if there is- also where can i get one from and how much approx? and how do i fit it? is it pretty straight forward?
im asking a lot of questions today lol cheers lads
as above..you need to find out if your dials are electronic or mechanical...then find the correct sender for the gearbox...tricky to explain but very, very easy to install electronic transducer or mechanical sender, they go into the same hole :-)
Have you got a haynes manual? invaluable! search on fleabay and pick one up
right before i leave this topic alone i havnt discovered wether there is just one type of xe speedo or do i need a certain one depending on what engine type or transmission it is? and where exactly does the other end of the cable go? (the one that doesnt go to the gear box) because i just had a look in the haynes manual but it didnt say lol
look down at the gearbox and coming out of it will be the sensor (check haynes manual to find where it is on gearbox) if it is electronic there will be two wires coming out of the top (they will be flimsy, like, erm, wires lol) if it's mechanical there will be a far more rigid cable coming out of it (a bit like the housing for a bike brake cable)
i'm sure you'll be able to source a mechanical drive on ebay, might even be worth phoning some vauxhall specific breakers yards. I would have thought they are more common than the electronic variety. Fingers crossed :-)
