engines gone into the nova SRi fine. runs sweet. apart from....
water temperature gauge isnt working. - what wires (colours please too) do I need to wire up for this to work
which sensor? by the front of the gear box there is a two pin plug socket. It holds a plug that has a black wire and a white with black stripe wire. There is one on the C20xe loom and there is one coming from the nova sri electrical loom. which one do I use. (btw coming from the astra multipin plug there is a white with black stripe wire that hasnt been connected to anything. what does this do to?
I dont think my coolant system is working properly. Filled it all up with water. started the engine and let it run for a while. The heaters (when on full) go quiet hot. but the coolant tank is still cool, the pipes that go to the heater are hot and the top left rad pipe is hot. Half the bottom rad pipe (near engine) is warm and other half (by rad) is cold. there doesnt seem to be any circulation of water.
My fan doesnt seem to be kicking in either.
Until the temp guage is working I guess I wont really be able to tell whether my fan should or should not be on. I have only left the car idling, so may not be getting car hot enough. but I dont want to take it for a long drive just in case it blows up.
Not sure about the 2LXE but all the other engine use a brass plug to sense water temp, have a look for a flat topped thing sticking out (not a great desc. I know), your temp gauge wire should have a lucas connector on the end - your basically looking for something that will accept this!!! LOL
Right here goes, look at the front of your engine where the heater hose comes out (to the left of the manifold) there is a small tab sticking out just below the hose but above a plug, this is where the blue wire shud connect to using a spade connector. Hope you can understand this. Rick
