I need to find out the best combination of head and block to put together. The car is only used for racing on a quarter mile oval track.I need lots of torque at the bottom end as we only use second gear.I have just blown up my 16v red top engine so I am thinking of going down the mix and match path. I have the following engines with all the fuel injection parts and ECU,s.
Early 1.8e engine from a MK1 GTE
Heads from MK2 GTE 1.8
2.0l sri Cav engine (F) plate (smokes)
2.0l NE Mk3 cav engine
2.0l 16v engine but rod sticking through block
2.0l 16v engine ok
Can anyone help me with some idea of the best combination from above or should I use a SEH bottom end.
Any help with which head gasket to use and any head work that is worth doing.
As there are no rules as far as exhausts I would also be interested on views on which manifold and which front box to use.
18e head with the usual headwork, just open out the inlet and match the ports to the inlet (i ground the inlet out a bit too for a laugh)
lob it onto a SEH block with the 2.0 head gasket.
its plug and play with the 18e system, so just bolt the block up to that basically.
get the head skimmed too, torquelicious, my old setup was seriously quick 0-60, just past 100 it didnt really have the same go but you wont need it eh.
Any Idea on the fuel injection side.Should I use the 1.8e injection or something from the 2.0l range?. Also which ECU.
I am also thinking of fitting two second gears that are quite close together so I dont have to use the clutch. Any help with the best ratio'S and which box to use. I have a quaife fitted but I think this fits any of the diffs. I have a F20 16v Fitted at the moment and it seems the second gear is a bit to high a ratio in second.
