The head gasket went and when put back together it was running rich and wouldn't idle (it didnt idle well before). There is no fault code for it. We took the idle control valve out and tested it, it would move very very slightly but not open or close.
You cant move the spring loaded bit at all by hand, it is jammed solid. Is there anyway it can be fixed cause they are £63 from vaux!
I'm going to get the new one later today if I can fix it so asap please!
You won't be able to move the plunger as the X14 uses a stepper motor for its idle 'valve'.
What you need to do is clean it thoroughly with something like carb cleaner - but you MUST re lubricate it afterwards.
Get some silicone grease in a spray and get plenty on/in it (you'll need to be patient as it is kind of a sealed unit but the grease will seep in at the top of the plunger).
