never thought much of it at the time but my calibra ( totally std with 97k on the clock, me as the second owner,fsh) got in it one day on my way home oil light came on and couple of seconds later went off,thought it was just a bit of crap in switch or switch iffy as on way home got on bypass little thresh all good,next day started in the morning oil light straight out drove about a mile oil light came on and stayed on in traffic and after finding somewhere to pull over(about 1 min if that) hydrolic followers started to tap,shut down engine.when we removed the pump (the original gm one ) it was much the same as this one it just failed just like this one.


all the times we have rebuilt our engine and all the abuse it has had,we have never as yet had an oil pump fail and they have all been the cheapest one we can find at the time (currently FIA/FAI ? ) never ever bought a gm one

I have three pattern oil pumps in mint condition, you can have them for free I am not ever going to us them, there is a fourth on over the field behind my house where I threw it.

would never ever use a second hand one no matter how good it looks as they are so cheap (£40) new one every time

Despite what has hapened to your pump I would rather use a genuine GM supplied pump new or secondhand (after checking) over any of the pattern pumps.
I some caes I put new gears in a genuine secondhand pump.
