so yes before someone mentions it, bearings were off to be checked. it gets about 4.5-5 bar oil pressure from cold. 1.5 bar on warm idle. 3.5-4 ish bar on driving
hopefully its saved. im still praying. drove it tonight, no knocks, no rattles nothing.

oh hell sounds like you have had a stroke of luck or even just a stroke??
aye im less angry and more dissapointed someone could do that kind of thing. early signs are that maybe ive got lucky. but i guess you never can tell. its getting an oil change in a bit with some unipart finest stuff.
although, there are no signs of the oil pump having anything going through it. its not got hot from no oil. i think the pump itself just failed.

if it wasn't for the earth , there wouldn't be any universe, mother earth gave birth to all the creation! and without the earths gravitational pull, the sun and the moon would have long gone adrift!
sorry no i didnt. i dont know whats easier, i dont know what they did i wasnt there to witness it otherwise id certainly not have been driving th car would i?
only clues to it being the dipstick tube are when i went round a friends house week before last, i could smell oil. so i open bonnet and found dipstick hanging out. hence thats what i assume happened.
whatever.

I reckon your right about it just failing.....probably due to winging high rpm and clattering of the limiter over a period of time.
Test it to destruction FTW![]()

never thought much of it at the time but my calibra ( totally std with 97k on the clock, me as the second owner, fsh) got in it one day on my way home oil light came on and couple of seconds later went off, thought it was just a bit of crap in switch or switch iffy as on way home got on bypass little thresh all good, next day started in the morning oil light straight out drove about a mile oil light came on and stayed on in traffic and after finding somewhere to pull over(about 1 min if that) hydrolic followers started to tap, shut down engine.when we removed the pump (the original gm one ) it was much the same as this one it just failed just like this one.
all the times we have rebuilt our engine and all the abuse it has had,we have never as yet had an oil pump fail and they have all been the cheapest one we can find at the time (currently FIA/FAI ? ) never ever bought a gm one

sorry and that but im still not 100% confident that everything has gone. i want a few more oil changes etc done first. its not the pump failing that bothers me, more the bits in the sump.
