I believe that the GPS timing technology is now preferred by vehicle manufacturers purely because it's the most accurate method developed to date. Yes he was running slicks and he also dumped the back seat and spare from the back before the run was made. If I hadn't have been there myself, I wouldn't have believed it - 4.89 0-60 from a FWD car. However this figure was proceeded by 3 runs of around 5.05 in the morning session. The slicks obviously account for some of the phenomenal grip, but Dave also runs a fairly serious plate diff too. Oh and as well as being a thoroughly nice guy, Dave's also a keen hillsprinter and track devotee.
