Can anyone please tell me the correct procedure for changing the timing belt on a 16 valve non ecotec L reg , I ask as I went to do mine and I have a automatic tensioner on mine and it has a little pointer thing. I lined this up but it seems to move every time I turn the engine over ??? Is this correct or am I doing something wrong. The tensioner has a little lever with a hole in it on the front and that’s what I used to tension the belt. It turns over by hand no problem but I am worried about this little pointer thing on the tensioner, all the other marks line up.
Oh and I hope I never have to change a fan belt .wow first one I have ever needed to take a engine mounting off to change, damn thing goes right through it … clever eh
