I've had a few problems with my Cav Turbo recently and I would put most of it down to poor fuelling. What should I upgrade first? Fuel Pump or Injectors? and what type should I get?
I've just got it back on the road (again) and this time I want to keep it there so want to sort everything I can.
Also..... While I think on. What size pipe is used for the fuel pipes under the car? And where can I get some from?
IIRC its 5 or 6mm ID fuel pipe from the filter onwards. The pump line is a bit bigger.
Have you replaced the filter or cleaned the injectors at all ??
Nope. The fuel pipes are cream crackered so need replacing. as does the fuel level sender unit. I thought I'ld just do the full system from sender unit to injectors.(apart from FPR and rail).
Pump - £80-ish
Regulator - £15-ish
Filter - £15-ish
Pipes - no idea
Injectors - £30 for cleaning existing ones.
Speak to Gavin and ask him about the parts I got from him as this includes a high flow fuel pump (195 l/hr as opposed to around 85 l/hr) and it fits right on. Only mod is replacing spade connectors for ring connectors.
Cheers Richie. I'll email Gav.
A tip: - De-pressurise the system by removing pump connections and try to start engine a few times.
Its no fun having petrol spray into your eye when you pull a pipe off at the pump end
