I've recently ditched the power steering from my 1.6 Corsa Sport (because up at to 9000rpm, the power steering pump pulley kept shattering!). Problem is that on the 1.6 Sport, all the models came with PAS and the front driver's side engine mount uses the housing of the PAS pump as an integral component of the mount. This means I've had to retain it to stop the engine from flapping around. Obviously, I'd like to ditch the redundant 10kgs or so and replace the mount containing the pump, with a standard mount. It turns out though that the engine bay of the post 1997 1.6 Corsa is considerably strengthened compared to the base model (a good thing), so I can't use a replacement engine mount from any other of the non PAS Corsa range. Vauxhall don't do anything either. Short of getting a custom mount fabricated (very expensive I fear), does anyone have any bright ideas?
