Earlier on my way home from work I suffered loss of power, it progressivley got worse until I stopped to check for the reason. Everything looked fine, but it now didn't want to start so I phoned the RAC who came out. Turned the key and and it started but was really lumpy and trying to stall.... the bloke said he thought that the cam belt had slipped and he could tell there wasn't much compression by the sound.
Then got towed home.
So, what is the likelyhood that I have bent valves or other head-off damage? If there is low compression does that mean valves are bent? Or just that the cam timing is out?
If its not this what else could it be?
If the head needs to come off how much of a job is it? Could someone who's never taken a head off (me!) do it?
Are there many performance gains to be had from headwork on these engines? (I've cams, mantzel powerbox, 4 branch etc all ready)
Sorry for all the questions but I need to get the fecking thing sorted for weston wheels on sunday! ahhhhhhhhhhhhh
