Ever after putting the engine in i have been running the inlet dry, Mild form of charge cooling said the previous owner, Last week i decided to connect up the water pipes and what a difference it made,
Still to do a full tank but usually its 100 miles to a quarter tank (Full to 3/4, dodgy gauge) but at the moment its sitting at 125 with a few more to go,
Also the car revs more smoothly and is FAARRR less prone to pinking, before if i opened the second choke on the webber before 2500RPM it was pinking city. Mabye due to better feul evapouration
Expecting it to possibly help with carb icing too but we shall see what happens in the frost.
other way round for me, gained something intangeable in response and power when i ripped out the pipes. never pinked on me cos i had the adjustable dizzy.
carb iceing will not happen now (well not after about 30 seconds of the engine running anyway)
having mumbled all that, its nice when you do summat free and simple and the car is much nicer to drive.
I have an adjustable dizzy too, allways pinked unless it was radically retarded, but then there was no power, managed to get it set up so it wouldnt pink if i used half throttle untill 2500-3000 rpm then full after that but occasionally it would still go crackly.
