To remove the top cover you will have to unbend these metal hooks. in most cases there is no need to unscrew any bolts!
When the lid is removed, most likely you will find a piece of plastic near the connector. it holds the white plastic isolator and be be easily lifted and removed with the same screwdriver.
When the plastic is removed, you should see a small plastic clamp sticking out of the board. it is holding the two halfs of the ECU together and goes all the way through. Clamp is made out of two pieces: inner and outer. To release it, inner piece must be pushed out.
when clamp is pushed in, it sticks out the other side of the ECU, just removed it with pilers.
DO NOT rush with board removal, because it is held my two metal clips either side of the connector. gently using a flat headed screwdriver bend them towards the plug until board is released.
With all clips removed, removed board as shown below.
Now you should be able to see internal components of your ECU. You are looking looking for a chip which usually has a sticker on it or a whitle plastic cover.
When you find the chip remove the plastic cover (if you have one) and gently prise the cover off.
Now remove your chip gently using a flat head screwdriver and easing it out bit at a time, don't rush or you slip and ruin other componants! NOTE the way the chip goes and what goes in top and bottom.
When chip is fitted put your ECU back together and refit to car, let it warm up to temp as it might take some time for the ECU to learn the new componants.
