| Turbos.... thrust bearing starvation
I've just been on the phone to The Turbo Centre (no one buy a turbo from them!!!) and they have come back to me saying that my turbo has failed due to "thrust bearing starvation" ...... Can someone please explain that?
There was plenty of oil there. It had been primed properly. I drove the car 20m and the new hybrid turbo was ****ed!
I've now fitted a standard turbo from ebay that i got for £60 and the car now works perfectly. |

Brand new return. Feed fills a pint bottle with a couple of turns of the key. This it the 2nd i've had from them!!!! | |

2nd thats failed within a short period of time? sounds like they are saying its oil starvation but if its pumping that amount that quick then it sounds as if its fowing well.

Was the Turbo a re-con or brand new ? what was the prob with the other Turbo you had from them ?

T15 Garrett hybrid. Brand new. The 1st one they said that i hadn't primed right. Now this one they are saying this. | |

if this has happened a few times now and they arent playing game then your best bet would be to give your local trading standard office a call.
i know there as been a few turbo companys selling off rebuilt turbos that have lasted no time at all, not built properly or due to way out tolerances causing very fast wear... | |

Nah i dont think its the companys fault, he's just a usless smack-rat who shouldnt be around anything mechanical or of an automotive nature, he's a disgrace to cars and engines the world over!!

I think that i am going to have to go to the local trading standard office in the end.
To prime it, the best way is to remove all the glow plugs (it was a derv, 2.0 DTI Astra) and crank it over a few times. This way you'll get the oil through the turbo 1st without it spinning up fast. Quote:
