astra gsi let f28 problem

Hi guys i have a 92 astra gsi with let conversion and f28 gearbox,my problem is that reverse 1st and second are hard to get you have to fiddle around and apply a fair ammount of pressure to engage it,once in a blue moon it will go in a bit easier but this is very rare, the box was rebuilt about 8 months ago and has no whines or crunches,do you think this could be linkage related or wrong gearoil etc,and help greatfully recieved cheers neil.

Re: astra gsi let f28 problem

try a thinner oil that may help or the clutch cable might need adjusting a bit

Try and re-set your linkage, I had a similar problem only today. turned out the 13MM Bolt that pinches the Gearstick shaft had slipped a wee bit.

Re: astra gsi let f28 problem

Excellent cheers guys, ive noticed to day that the gearstick sits futher forward than it should so i think that backs it up,also i noiticed its easier when warm,i spoke to vauxhall and they said it should run dextron2,now some years back i had a cossie and this had a similar fault, when checked it had a 80/90 in soo swapped it for dextron2 and was spot on,any advice either pro or against aforementioned vx tech please post as will be doing the oil swap at the weekend all being well and not pouring down again.
