Re: fitment of p2 and boost settings

1. I think there's a guide on here somewhere.

2. Depends on what other components you have. FMIC, Injectors etc.

3. What injectors do you have?

Re: fitment of p2 and boost settings

Right standard injectors need a fair amount of pressure. Do you have a gauge and also do you have a wideband kit? Without knowing the a/f ratio I wouldnt want to push P2 spec's on standard injectors.

I'm not 100% sure but I think you want 4.5Bar on standard injectors. Please confirm this before you tweak the boost

Its only really your injectors that let you done. Everything else is fine for P2

Re: fitment of p2 and boost settings

i was also told 3.5 bar on yellows but to be honest every engine is different and getting it set up on the road with a wideband or on a rolling road would be best.

3.5bar for phase 2. I have some saab reds for £40 delivered if you want them? Really good for phase 2 especially if you have adjustable reg. Standard injectors will be getting close to maximum flow on phase 2.

Re: fitment of p2 and boost settings

they mean take vacuum off when checking pressure as it gives the true reading because when the vacuum's on it drops.

13psi held? i have an mbc as well.

whats the limit before boost cut?

Re: fitment of p2 and boost settings

ok cool, im only getting chips to see if its boost cut im getting, which im sure it is. but least once i got them i got them more fun either way lol.

well i'll set boost at 15psi or so and go from there and just see whats what.

will it still boost cut? if too high? im only looking for 1bar anyway will be quick enough.

Re: fitment of p2 and boost settings

You wont get boost cut with the adjustable boost controller unless you plumb it in with the amal valve.

Better to set it to say 14PSI, get the fueling right on the wideband and forget what pressure it should be. The wideband will be far more accurate.

Don't personally like Saab reds on P2/Evo5 as they never ran right on mine. Astra VXR injectors overfuel a little but the ride is far better.

Re: fitment of p2 and boost settings

if your only looking for 1bar dont bother with the MBC as your only 1psi away with the amal valve plumed in. have you got another turbo now as i thourt i read your penny valve was cracked

MBC is still worth having. Just depends on what kind of power delivery you're looking for.

With the MBC set to 14PSI it will climb slightly quicker as the waste gate wont open until 14PSI is met. With the amal valve a small amount of boost is lost throughout the rev range as the valve pulses to regulate boost pressure.

You also get overboost with the Amal valve but some people just like to hit a figure and hold it.

really? atm mine wont boost over .5bar it just cuts out and kangeroo's... i thought it was boost cut!?!?!

1psi away from 1bar, on standard chips? mine hates anything near that figure. how much of a boost leak can cause problems?

Re: fitment of p2 and boost settings

You've not fitted the chips yet have you? Standard boost cut is just under a bar (11PSI IIRC) so you may have another problem. Boost cut doesn't make the car kangeroo either so it could be a missfire due to the plug gap being wrong, not enough fuel, bad leads etc.

Mine used to kangeroo at 10PSI. Turned out to be dodgy HT leads. Changed them and it works fine upto 22PSI which is the Evo5 overboost limit.

Its not boost leak as such its how the wastegate works with the amal valve. Completely normal.

Mines quite late too. It starts to make pressure around 3K then comes on full boost very quickly at 4.5K
