alternator faults, astra van 2003 1.7TD

hi everyone

just signed up to the site, got an astra van 2003 1.7TD and i think the alternator has packed in, not charging the battery up any more.

are they a straight easy swap?

plan on just buying one off ebay and fitting it

does it need to come off an 03 1.7TD van or are they are part that is used in many vauxhalls

Check the battery light hasn't blown first. This needs to work to 'jump' the alternator.

battery light works, charged up battery and car starts and runs (with the battery light on all the time)

bugger, anyone with a bit of advice about buying and fitting one?

are all the alternators the same for the mk4 astra van 1.7TD

can i just simply unbolt the old and bolt in the new, job sorted?

My battery light has blown, I have taken the clocks out and took the black cover off the back. My van is a 2000 Astra mk4 1.7 dti. How do I change it?
