yeh, dont trust the pin and notch on the crank pulley.
Ive done mine twice now by just lining up the cam sprockets with their markers then referencing them to a long rod stuck down the spark plug hole on no.1 cylinder. your aiming for the cam sprockets to be on their markers as no.1 cylinder is in the Top Dead Centre dwell period, i.e when the rod down the hole is inbetween raising and falling. Its quite easy really, cause a tooth either way and it will be noticeably out. When all is correct the cam sprocket markers tend to point inwards ever so slightly.
