HELP! stuck oil pressure releaf valve
ok fixed my oil pressure switch only to find i dont have oil pressure.
spoke to the gods that are V-TUNNING and he said its probably due to a stuck oil pressure valve, so i take out the bolt, the spring pops out and.......no plunger.
the plunger seems to be stuck, i can get a finger in there, but cant pull it out, even tried a magnet, but to no success.....Any ideas????
bit of bitch to get out, had to remove the engine mount, and undo the oil turbo feed from the back of the block, to gain access
its cap shaped, the spring slides up inside the valve. so you just need to stick some kind of rod up there and have a wiggle around. AAAWWWWW MMMATRON.
didn't want to do that and damage it.
i take it it just needs cleaning?
they usually jam because of some fragment of metal stuck in the bore and scoring the mating surfaces. depending on the state of it, its advisable to replace, better still get one of SBD nylon valve upgrades which will elliminate jamming.
OS-NV-1 Oil Pump Nylon relief Valve Kit cures the problem of the releif valve sticking (highly recommended) 1.4 –2.0l 16V £44.00 + VAT
its still jammed, cant move it at all.
any more ideas,
what about hitting it upwards?
£44 for a bit of nylon!!!!!
A little tap with a rod and a mini hammer might loosen it up i suppose. Its only had the tension of the spring pressing it in. Worst case scenario is taking the whole pump off. yeh well, wait till you find out how much a standard metal valve costs from vauxhall
