About 6 months ago I got code 31 on my Ecotec 2l 16v Cav Sri which was the Camshaft sensor. Replaced it with help from a mate - pretty easy really and no problems... Until yesterday, givin' the car a bit of stick joining the ring road and I experienced a horrible 'jerk' at about 5000 rpm in 3rd. Next thing the bl00dy ECU light's on. Anyway, this time I'm getting code 19 (Crankshaft Sensor, incorrect signal). It's coming on every time I hit about 4K rpm.
Thing is it looks a ba$tard of a job to sort (and I bet the sensor's expensive too). The Cav Haynes manual doesn't even mention a crankshaft sensor ('cos it's cr*p with the X20 XEV engine) and my Vectra Haynes manual (which covers my engine a lot better) talks about removing the front engine mounts, PAS pump, etc...??!!!??? I hope not!
Anyway, I'd really appreciate anyone's advice on this. Should I bite the bullet and give it to the garage or is it 'do-able'. I'll willingly give the job a go, but could do with being 'forewarned'!
