X16XE engine into 1.0 Corsa. Wiring help needed
Ive recently bought an x16xe to go into my corsa which is to be fited by me and my mate this coming weekend. Now we understand the wiring is going to be difficult but particular problems with ecu wiring and transponder chip. Has anyone done this before that can help us? Is it possible to use a c16xe wiring loom and ecu to make it easier?
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Andrew

It's easy enough mate. Just change the chip in your key for the one from the X16 donor car key and also change the transponder on the end of the ignition barrel. All you do then is make sure the blue/red wire (nearest the red wire) from the transponder plug is connected to the blue/red in the small ECU plug on the X16 loom. It's a bit more time consuming wiring a loom into an X10 corsa because the 1.0 loom joins the car loom under the bonnet, so you either pull the wires through the bulkhead into the car or just splice the X16 loom into the car loom behind the clocks/fusebox. I do it this way. From the X16 small plug;
Red > red 12v
Black > black ignition live (either splice these into the matching wires on the ignition switch, or if the car has EPS, you can use the matching wires going to the EPS ECU)
Thick red/blue > red/blue for fuel pump. I splice this into the matching wire behind the fusebox.
Brown/blue > brown/blue for ECU light
Green > green rev counter
Blue > blue, water temp gauge
These three get spliced behind the clocks.

sums it up, but make sure you change the transponder from the ignition barrel as they are diffrent. Also i found it easier to take the loom from the engine bay through the bulkhead.
-
Cheers guys. Will let you know how we get on. No doubt ill have to ask another question lmao. Chris, did you take the loom through the grommit just by where the servo is?
-
Yes mate, then it comes out just above the brake pedle if i remember correctly, you will have to cut the old ECU plug off though
-
So it wouldnt start. We're almost certain its the ecu, transponder and key as it cuts out after a second or two with a flashing ecu light
-
If the ECU light is flashing on off on off fast then its the immobilizer
Make sure you have the correct chip and your using the barrel transponder from the 1.6 engine
Make sure you have matched all the wires from the 1litre loom to the 1.6 loom and check and double check there correct. The speed signal, RPM and fuel relay signal is all apart of the immobilizer setup on them, also switched live, make sure thats connected
Immobilizer requires
Speed
RPM
Fuel Relay
Switched Live
Live
Earth
Please correct me if im wrong its been a while since i did the last
Oh, is the battery charged fully too? One thing iv noticed with vauxhall is when a battery is really low the ECU doesnt like it and the immobilizer cuts in. This is only when the battery wont even crank though
-
so the rev counter needs to be connected brfore it will start?
think we will have to go over it all again andrew
-
lmao cars can be SO fun. Want to give it another try at weekend? May of found a full system nearby but thats where you and jamie step in
-
you have pm mate, hope you get it going ok, the loom ecu transponder and chip i gave you where all the same out of my gsi. definatly an immobiliser probel tho if it flashes the ecu light
-
I had the same issue and it was because i connected the speed signal to the fuel signal both thin wires on the 1litre loom,
Once i swapped the around the signals and they were correct and the immobiliser went off and she fired up
It can be difficult as one's blue red and the other is red blue. On the 1.6 loom its easy to tell as the fuel relay wire is thicker but like i said, on the 1 litre side of the loom both wires are really thin lol
-
Right, when i did the conversion i cut the ECU plug off the 1litre loom, pulled the wires through the bulkhead
I have labeled the wires you need for the immobiliser
The three that i have linked together you will have to find out which are which like said above
-
Still no luck. Going to try and get hold of an unlocked ecu to get it to work
-
is the ECU light still flashing constantly ?
-
yup. Tried everything suggested. Even started all over again and still flashing ecu and not firing up

Re: X16XE engine into 1.0 Corsa. Wiring help needed
im having the same problem. i turn the ignition on the ecu light starts flashing. so far i've connected
Green RPM
Red Battery power
Brown/white Diagnostic socket wire
Blue/red tracer Dash
Black 12V Ignition switch relay in passenger kick panel
Brown/blue Dash
the wires i have left on the 1.6 loom is
blue
brown/yellow
and the thick red/blue
any help would be great thanks

Appologise for bumping an old thread, but I'm having immobiliser trouble on a x18xe1 in a Nova. Anyone care to share some please give me a private message. Thanks
