f20 crunching

hi when i press the clutch to go into reverse it seams to crunch but if i keep the clutch pressed it will go in an out fine.an also if i pull away fast an change from 1st to 2nd fast at about 6000rpm 2nd always cruches.but at normal speeds its fine an all other gears are fine.any ideas

all the parts, gaskets/bearings are avilable of fleabay for around £100 if you do decide to rebuild. not sure if you can get syncro rings for them though...

when in a higher gear never slow down and stop going straight into reverse-it will crunch!

i keep telling my Mrs to guide it into first then go into reverse..... then it will never crunch
give it a try?

it does say in the manual to do that. either 3rd or 1st is usually good. I've been doing that for about 20 years
if u don't want to be always wearing things out like this, take your time changing gear! 2nd syncro will usually die first, so unless u want to be changing boxes yearly, take your time!
