i bought one of the above from vauxhall a little while ago. While i was there i asked when they stopped using this part in production, just to guage some kind of longevity incase i need a new one in the future. The guy told me they were used well into the mk3 astra era.
That part number trevor first quoted (90510183) comes up for almost every car model when you do a search in EPC. I have the receipt for mine right here on my lap, its that part number above, cost £17.25. The one that came off my car is blue, the new one is blue.

Are you looking under Astra GSi not GTE Trev ?
I am looking under Astra, not Kadette E. The model is not an issue is only relates to the engine. C20XE. Was that not what they fitted to the GSI then? All the other engines use the part I originaly quoted.
Well the EPC gives only 2 types for the C20XE and it depends on aircon or not. If the car has no aircon it uses the same as almost every other engine.
Traction Control is not mentioned, and perhaps you can enlighten me, but why would traction control need to know the coolant temperature? Perhaps you have seen the TC (timing control) abreviation on some of the temp sensors and not realised they are for engines with electronic ignition that is retarderd when the engine gets very hot to stop pinking.

Hey, it's not disagreeing, it's healthy debate.
Unfortunalty I only have the EPC and not any wiring diagrams and the EPC only lists 2 sensors for the C20XE engine, one of which is the same as all the rest and it replaces a discontinued one and the other one for if you have air-con.
I have no reason to belive that Andy is wrong, like I said, I only have an EPC, not a GSI (I wish!) or a wiring diagram.
And when I think about it, the traction control could work by simply reducing the fueling/cutting the ignition through it's own control box, and if it did it would have to know the coolant temperature.
Well, not to confuse anymore but, the fan stopped working this weekend on my cav t (with aircon), took out the sensor (black) and it looked a bit green on the inside so guessed it was fooked, thought it may be the same as the one in the Cav GSi rad I have which is nearly new so whipped that out, it was yellow, it only had 2 pins and the Cav t needed 3. Went to vaux and he gave me a blue one ?? Fan works now. Oh yeah it was £9.06 plus vat.
My old Astra Gsi used a black one, when I renewed it the bloke at the parts counter ordered me a blue one, when I got it on the car it would idle okay but would hesitate and run bad when trying to drive anywhere.
Once I fitted the correct black one, there were no problems at all.
