    Corsa C20 Let , knackered

Right , not long had the top end done on the engine , had new valves , valve stem oil seals , new valve guides , etc done and a new timing belt kit as a pulley had sheared and bent the valves , so also put on a z20 let steel head gasket , eventually got it all running etc then had mot work done etc was running really well , not even done more than 300 miles in it since , had a slight oil light prob after a wee while sometimes the light would come on when idleing or it would flicker , but as soon as you touched the throttle it would go away again , so few nights ago had it out a wee spirited drive for 15 mins at the most , everything was fine drove home let it cool down turned it off . fine . next night as it was freezing a thought i would go out and start it up as battery not the best , so turns key , makes a funny metal noise hmmmmm , try starts again and it fires up fine no probs , so let it idle for a bout 20 mins everything fine no oil light or anything turn it off . last night goes out and checks the oil before going to start , oil seems fine not lost any , trys to start makes that funny noise again , but more as if starter was jammed , then batt was going weak , so trys to tow it along the street to bump it in 2nd , front wheels lock up hmmmm , try it one more time as was icy , same thing again locks the wheels up , time to abandon back in driveway anyone any iseas ? bottom end seized ? much would i roughly be looking at to repair a bottom end ? if it can be fixed ? and what parts are needed , or any other suggestions as im stumped and cant get it back over to the guy that usually looks after it at the moment.

Aye scott , socket on a big bar on the bottom pulley and see if it turns.

no anti freeze if that cold could possibly crack the block, as you may/should now water expands as it freezes....not good.

but as said see if will turn over by hand!!!

Wouldn't of thought that its frozen ?? as said - try and turn it over with a spanner / ratchet on the crank bolt (easier with the plugs out). If it turns over then check all the timing marks line up.
If it doesn't turn over then looks like you'll have to pull it apart, doesn't sound good tho especially since the oil lights been flickering on.
Long shot but the starter on my diesel 106 sticks sometimes and makes some well dodgy noises on start up, could it be that the starters dodgy and has locked on to the flywheel ?? Unlikely but maybe worth checking before you pull it apart if it doesn't turn over.

If the water's frozen in the pump....

Wait until it's above freezing, then drain the water out and get some proper coolant in it.

I would say its siezed, ive known of engines siezeing before and the couple of teeth it seems to turn on the flywheel represents very lttle movement on the crank, probably just takeing the slack up on the likes of the rings and gudgeon. could you not get it into a garage and get some sort of heater under it to try and warm things up?

well todays findings , since the car has defrosted shall we say lol , had my mate up and helped me look at it , now as said you can turn engine over slighty till it locks , my mate reckons its sounds like the valves are hitting , when its "locking" also the timing belt seems slack and it looks as though the timing is slightly out !! hmmmm.

Sounds like the heads coming off then mate , sounds like the timing belt has jumped when the wheels locked up.

and a frozen up water pump can cause the timing to slip
