Misfire on start up - c20let
just recently ive been experiencing a misfire on start up from cold. If i try to drive the car normally without boosting it judders and misfires but then goes but once it has finished accelerating it still misfire's. After a few min's it'll be ok and drive fine
I can leave the car to warm up and after 2 mins then it idle's ok and drives fine.
Anyone know what might be causing this. I have had the car on the computer and the only code i get is code 61 which is related to the evap valve which has been on since i fitted the engine over a year ago.
Also can anyone help me get rid of this code 61, i have replaced the evap valve with a working unit and this still hasnt cured it.
thanks

I have a similar thing at the moment with mine, been told its likely to be the cold (or hot) start valve. Other thing is the coolant temp sensor - it won't throw up a fault even when it is faulty and the computer just believes everything it says so for a couple of quid I would change it.

Only replaced the Hot Start Valve last year but i'll get another ordered along with a coolant temp sensor.
Anyone else help?

I was told to bypass the hot start valve, just not got round to it. It supposedly only adjust the fuel pressure when the coolant temp is at 120oC which should be next to never - unless the coolant temp sensor is trying to tell the engine it is, when obviously it isn't.

mine was doing the same & i checked the Hot/Cold Start plug & noticed the plug was a little broken & the clip spring that holds it into place was missing & kept coming off causing it to missfire on start up.
Just for saftey take the earth lead off batt & remove Hot/Cold Start Valve plug give it a clean with WD40 or somthing to remove any muck check the plug & wire's to see if all is ok then replace what you have to then put the earth lead on & start car & let it warm up on its own don't give it any acceleration at all, when thermostat opens & fan kicks in a few times then take it for a drive ....... good luck..... ps also check your spark plugs & leads ..................
TERI.
