oil pressure gauge on corsa engines
I have a 1.4 16v corsasport engine in my nova; I also have a digital dash and want the oil pressure gauge to work. The oil warning light works. I don't think any corsa's came with oil pressure gauges. Can I fit any other vauxhall oil pressure gauge to the corsa engine? Does it just fit into and replace the oil warning sensor?
If so any idea's on a price for one? Is it vauxhall only?
Yep, just replace the oil pressure switch with a dual switch and sender.
You may need to run a wire from the sender to the dash for the guage.
Vauxhall - £50-60 or something silly
QH - Dunno the price, but i noticed it was in the catalogue when i worked there (CI i think is the electronics brand QH use)
Scrappy - £5-10
Fitted to Nova GTE/GSi/SRi/Some SR's, Astra GTE/GSi, some calibra's and cavs too i think.
2 types for the vauxhall range, early type with non sealed connector, later type with sealed connector. Either will work.
I have now got the dual type oil pressure sendor! I fitted it earlier but have not yet wired it in!
There is a spade conector and a small threaded rod on the sensor. I assume one is the oil pressure gauge and the other is the warning light. Any idea's which way round?
Does the warning light warn against low oil presure or low oil levels? Is the anyway I can check that the warning light works without draining loads of oil?
Spade is normal low oil pressure light. Around 4psi (very very low, dead car in very short time). The one you disconnected from the old sensor goes to this.
Round threaded pin is the one for the guage. You may have to run a new wire up to the instruments depending on what model you have.
Warning light works just the same as before (goes out within a few seconds of starting the car).
Cheers mate, Its all working now!
