im not sure what parts fit, but using a distributor and module (and hence the advance curve) from a 1.6 8v engine with a single downdraft carb on a 2.0 16v engine with a set of DCOE's really isnt very ideal. The engines differ quite greatly in where they need and want ignition advance and while it may work, it wont be very optimal and it may cause engine damage due to pinking.

carbs should be left in the era they belong in; the EFI system that was fitted IS better than a set of carbs and in my opinion you really wont see any real gains from fitting the carbs, especially with the horrible ignition setup you plan to use

but if u want to go back to the 70's and enjoy pish fuel economy, crap cold starting, and horrible drivability then go right ahead!

Yes to crap fuel econemy and cold starting but if tuned properly the carbs are completely fine to drive in normal conditions.

As for no real gains id say 20-30bhp increase for the price is pretty good if your willing to pay for the fuel
