Ok, Huston, I have a problem.
Having gone to vauxhall with my engine code, they say that they are unable to provide me with a year of manufacture for my engine thats taking the place of my 1.8 16v ecotec (1994) Astra GSI.
So I said does that mean its gonna fail its MOT???? YES! noooo, He said was their no way around it and he said I would have to fit a CAT, coz the engine codes a C20XE - it can have / should have a CAT.
So me looked at the wiring loom I got with it and , well it doesnt APPEAR to have the O2 sensor plug on it, anyone know if this is correct, or if I have the wrong loom?
Also the Starter and distributor loom, unplugged from a big multiplug, by the ABS, o/s Strut, which is fine, but the new loom for the same things, is the opposite type of plug, ie male to female, not female to male, so that wont fit. Also the plug that joins it to the injection loom, is different, so can Iuse the one from my old engine, bearing in mind the plug for the injection loom is different....
Please could someone provide some gen on what I can do, eg splice the looms, omit the 02 sensor? does anyone have a loom, with the O2 plug on it?
I did think of fitting it all, leaving out the o2 sensor, leaving in the CAT from the old engine, and hoping it would reduce the emmisions on its own?
Any help would be great guys n girls
