A mate is wanting me to put a 1.6 engine into his 1.2 nova.
her is a list of what i will be needing, could you please confirm that i have taken everything into account for an easy swap.
1.6sv engine running pierburgh carb
Nova gte driveshafts (assuming 1.2 ones wont do?)
1.6 radiator (need to be a nova radiator or will an astra one fit?)
suitable brakes, off some 1.6 vauxhall
will the 1.2 struts do the job or will i have to get 1.6 struts?
will a 1.2 alternator line up with the bottom pulley using the 1.2 bracket.
F16 gearbox is a big block box. The 16SV engine is a small block engine. Unless you're thinking of fitting the old old big block engine, which i wouldn't do. All the weight and hastle of a 2 litre conversion with no power.
His F10, and driveshafts will fit, 16SV is prety pants in standard form and I would think his drive shafts and box will cope.
I'd use the fuel injected GTE 1.6 personally. I'm not a fan of the SV, its more of a high torque non revvy engine. Even a 1.3 would give a lot more bang per buck.
no i am not using a large block engine dont be silly,
nowt wrong with the 16sv its a good engine that will take a tanking, opting not to use injection as the guy who wants it done has asked if i could do it in a day, injection and all that extra wiring to worry about is uneeded hassel.
gearbox selection is taking into account that he may want to upgrade to a two litre at a later date.
of course engine and box variant will no doubt depend on whats available at the time,
