Following on from my thread yesterday:
I want to my local vx dealer and bought one of the XER oil pumps they had (£120 with my discount).
This pump is found on the 160bhp (1999 onwards) astra, various 2.2 engines and new Omegas and is the one SBD were showing me last week.
As can be seen it already has steel gears and the relief valve (sorry no photo) is a different design which won't stick. As you may have noticed the gears are a different shape than the xe ones.
I'm gonna hunt around for the rated output of this pump today so I can make sure it is superior than the xe one. Anyone got any gen on xe pump outputs or the manufacturer 'SHW' who make this XER pump?
The xe oil seal drops straight in the whole no probs, and I'll have to get the XER gasket as it is a different shape than the xe one. I'll also have to mod the pick-up pipe to get it to mount to the oval opening that is in the bottom of this pump, rather than the round one which is about 45degs from teh bottom on the xe one.
The vx garage said I can return it if I don't use it and get a refund (which is nice).
