I've been tempted to manufacture my own turbo kit for my vectra
(on a budget)
If i had the exhaust manifold made up, I could get a turbo and intercooler quite easily as there are plenty of jap imports around here.
nissan and toyota turbos are quite popular. i was thinking a T25 off an s13 silvia or 180sx. any recommendations?? i'd only want to run low boost with a high comp motor. ie up to 7 pound max.
would I be better off going for a T2 or a T28??
what else would I have to do??
would i run steel pipe from the end of the induction hose, right around to the turbo inlet, then to an intercooler, then into the plenum???
would the standard ECU be able to recognise boost?
i've seen a supercharger kit from regal with the airflow meter of the X20XEV between the turbo and the plenum. as it's plastic, wouldn't it shatter under boost???
there is also a temp sensor (i think) on the induction hose. where would i relocate this to???
that's my major problem, where is it best to relocate the sensors that are affixed to the induction hose???
i've asked for full details about regal's new turbo kit for the motor but i doubt i'd get any response as they are a business and have the right to make money. trouble is that the kit costs about $9000 australian.... about half the price of the whole car!!
I've also thought about using a S/C off a toyota 4AGZE as these are dirt cheap at $350, but once again i don't have enough knowledge in the subject.

also no point going to any performance shop in australia, if u mention "vectra" and "modify" around here they look at you like your some kind of alien, because as all australians know that the only good cars are HOLDEN and FORD mate, and its gotta be a big V8!lmao lmao lmao
the more information about this topic, the better. don't be affraid to criticise me in anyway. I could pick up a C20LET easily too, as there are many stacked calibra turbos in wrecking yards but this conversion would be way out of league.
my motor is a C22SEL but looks identical to an X20XEV as used in the U.K. vectras.
also if someone wants to give me a brief rundown of what all the numbers and letters mean in the engine code, i'd appreciate it.
i used to know this but forgot. the "22" is obviously approx. displacement / 100. i think V indicates 16V, T indicates turbo, and i know one of the letters derermines compression ratio.
