my missus car failed mot on this. ( 1.6 16v sport corsa b) tried new plugs, new filter and new lambda, still fails! only on fast idle test. reading should be 0.2, but cant get it below 0.59. car has just had head gasket replaced, could this be causing probs? seems to have a slight miss fire, could a simple blast with redex sort it? cheers, chris.
i was told that redex doesnt help much but you could try it...theres this other one called forte that my local garage sells and it helps to get your emisions down somehow
i was a bit doubtful with the redex myself. have seen some stuff that you spray straight into the air intake, then run for a few minutes. maybe this could do some good?
thats carb cleaner mate, yeh you could try tht...just take the ICV off and clean it with carb cleaner for better results...also did you replace the leads??? have you removed the CAT from the exhaust??
right, just had a thought. when i changed the plugs, i assusmed that they were pre-gapped, however, having been on the ngk website, it appears that they are not. could tghis be responsible for the small miss fire? also, on looking at my old plugs, on three of them there is a fair build up of black cdeposits. i understand that this may mean the mixture is too rich? if this is true, what causes this? cheers, chris.
