Section cut C20XE-C20LET head pictures?

Hi. I wonder if there are any pictures of a sectioned C20XE/C20LET cylinder head. I'd be particularly interested in a section cut following this transverse plane, right between the valves:

Thanks in advance.

the head I had cut was to investigate the oilway/waterway cracking issue - so the cut wasn't anywhere near those areas.

Is that so you can open them up to drop the CR, or skim the hell out of it to raise the CR, or for some other reason?

(sorry to be nosey, but sounds interesting!)

Don't worry for asking. I need to know the thickness in those areas to be sure I will not hit water when cutting this:

I remember reading something on an American site and its primary reasoning was for fuel consumption, although there were other benefits that I forget!?!?

Are you sure he's not just testing the depth to see if there is a water jacket underneath? ie he can weld up a slit, but not a whole area that's been rubbed back!

the slits are meant help channel the compressed fuel and air into the spark plug area. i.e "squish"

not such a big deal on pentroof (V) 16v chambers since the charge gets pushed to the plug anyway. i think the other thread with these modifications to kidney shaped 8v heads are much more effective and a bigged deal.

... beat me to it

Blydenstein don't do this mod on the XE/LET engines do they? Neither do any of the major tuners?

Is it gonna be left at just the slits thought? Or is he gonna machine it away to make the chamber completly round....upto the marking on the face? Therefore there will be no slits when its finished perhaps, just a larger combustion chamber??
Good **** though, crack on.

surely they slits, left like that, provide a way for the mixture to escape from the combustion chamber and generally a leaky combustion chamber. or am i not thinking straight here:

A slit like that would also have several sharp edges = det hotspots.
