My 1.5TD in the Nova will pull to nearly 5krpm. Quite good for a diesel I reckon.
Mines on 105k miles so I think it should cope with being tuned for a bit. Got to do the glow plugs before anything though as its not starting too well as of late.

Mines on 133k, badly needs a service tho. If my fuel gauges goes into the red and i boost to 1 bar the car then loses all power. Fuel filter im ashuming is covered in crap.

Just put the gauge in my mates 1.5td corsa... he brought me a 20psi gauge to fit and was disapointed when it only reads 10psi.. wats he expect from a 1.5td running standard boost... Its a crappy old fast and furious gauge too...
To The Redline----> And Beyond--------------->
not sure what boost mine is running but its quite hard to get the correct fuel setup, still unsure of where is best for boost in performance but maintain good economy
Owns a white Mk3 turbo diesel with more stopping power then engine power..... boosting 0.9bar, Now De-catted!!
I didnt know there numbered on the end caps before, nice one i'll have a look. Still be a small block though but might have a big fly wheel and the casting for big block starter which means i can keep standard box but i doubt it without splitting it apart
Anygen on this atall cheers, keep the diesel flame alight![]()
Mine was on 126k last time I checked, new cam belt, new fuel filter, new air filters, new engine oil and filter, new gearbox oil and new tyres.
So there, Andy.![]()

Keeping this thread alive...
Just recently fettled my Cav![]()
I de-cat-ed it some time ago, which made an improvement on its own (although my old man owned it before me, so it was a bit clogged up!).
Rather than fit a bleed valve, I treated it to a boost control valve instead, so as not to waste any pressure unnecessarily.
I have looked through a number of threads both here and elswhere on the subject, but cant find a definative answer. Just what psi or bar are folk running reliably? I am currently running 20psi, but I am wondering if that is asking too much? When I first fitted the boost controller, I saw figures well in excess of thatIf only I had read the boost controller instructions...

Carry on like that and you could be running 20 second quarters too!![]()

LOL - not sure I want too considering all the fuss it's caused...![]()
1 bar is the maximum on a stock inlet manifold.
Makes you wonder why you even bother going to Santa Pod and going to meets, if all people are going to do is tell you you're wasting everyone's time being on the strip.
Then you get people looking at photos of you and saying "Haha, now I know why Jack is suck a jackass on the forums!!"
Makes you wonder why you ****ing bother.

Small minority mate - Dont let them spoil it for you.
At the end of the day - everyone is entitled to run on the strip - its a laugh afterall.
Hell my first time at the pod with my 1.8 16v i ran an 18.8 - with some practise and repairs i got it down to a 16.3then blew it up . . . .
and if people dont like the fact you want to run on the strip - tell them to ram it
Anyhoo back on topic . . .

The thing is, I am not after 'every last drop' of hp I can get - my other car's light that fire for me. The old Cav is the daily hack, and tow barge to get my other cars to trackdays etc. But it does make driving the Cav a little less laborious with the extra 'go'. Just wondering if anyone has any long term reports against psi used - good or bad...
