Hey ho, the 1.6S is high compression if im thinking right after browsing through my origianl 1983 car handbook. Well the car just runs crap, you can smell petrol from the exauhst really bad and it dont tick over till its been running for along while and the auto choke is absoloubte rubbish.
After reading some quite interesting posts such as fuel injecting a 1.3 etc I was wondering if theres any carb from a mk2 astra I could use that would be set up the same as my 1.6 and have a manual choke? or would a newer one just work better.
Fuel injection sounds interesting too but I dont even know if it could be done, as the 1.6mk1 has no ECU would i have to transfer everything over from say a 1.8 mk2 gte or mk1 gte if I could be so lucky to get my hands on one at a scrappy and then the fuel levels would be too rich wouldn't they as the 1.8 was a slightly bigger engine/
