please help
my corsa has developed o bit of a problem
ran fine for about 100 miles then the oil light came on and the topend started tapping
oil was low so i topped it up (a bit too much i think) took it down the road and poof a huge cloud of white smoke out the back at 4 grand (surge into the inlet?)took it home with a huge white rooster tail and it was ticking so i drained some oil and got the level right started it and she quietened down to normal
so i took it to my local lanes to burn the oil in the inlet when it stopped smoking i went home, on the way on came the oil light and ticking noise
i suspect the oil pump but if anyone has suggestions as to what else it might be please let me know
cheers
gaz
dont drive it unless you want to make it worse. just a little word of advise from someone with experience lmao
if you can fit another oil pump then just do it its not worth the risk at the end of the day and fit with the correct grade of oil and a new oil filter. if your lucky "which i doubt" then you wont have done any damage. BUT because you are going to have to take the sump of to remove said item (oil pump) you may aswell inspect the big end bearings. you may find that your buying another engine or rebuilding your one.
put it this way its not looking good. unless your very lucky.
holy crap i aint driven it since the tapping came back just got it home and turned it off
i think ill keep it of the road for the week and rebuild the bottom end
just out of curiosity how much do oil pumps usually go for as ive seen some for 20quid some 70quid and someone told me 300 from vaux!!
looks like it could be relief valve
today i turned it over without the ignition module or dis connected to build some pressure then started it the oil light went out after about 5 seconds and the tapping went after a few minutes left it to run for an HOUR and no probs, it ran silently, fan kicked in as normal EM light went off
so i took it for a light careful drive up the road heres what happened
pulled out of the culdesac EM light came on
drove it nicely up and down once no probs (EM light still on)
but when i put my foot down a bit it felt like a misfire so i didnt do it again(could be my plugs as theyre probably still oil choked)
so if its holding pressure the pump could be fine and the valve is sticking open?
i think it might be the lambda sensor again (dodgy wires gotta get a new one)
ill give the paper clip a try in the morning
dont mean to sound thick but how would overfueling thin the oil
as for the oil pump problem im just gonna strip it all down give it a damn good clean and inspection and put new seals and gaskets on everthing (inc head exhaust was steaming this morning) hopefully wont need a new pump
got a cally book last night for all torque settings
spark fuel but **** compression heads coming off for a skim
P.S. the owner gave it to me after getting stressed with it not firing up and hes put over 500 quid into it
