Then again, at least one person I know, (though admitedly it's in a rear drive installation), got a stone caught behind the cover that caused the same problem. He like many, now runs without the cover.
I drove my Astra for 6 months without a cambelt cover on, one of those "must remember to get that done" kind of jobs. Luckily, no stones or debris fell in and it now has a cover on.
My LET didn't have a cover... My nova didn't have a cover... It's one of them things, people tell you be careful due to stones but i've never heard of someones belt jumping due to a stone. The bottom pulley is shielded by the aux belt pulley anyway!
lol you might be alright!!! not a gambler my self!!!! specialy with a £800 rebuild, have to work quite hard for tha these days!!!!
