Can anyone help, I am looking for a good chip for my cavalier turbo, I currently have one set of regal chips and one set of super chips for it but neither are really any good, they only seem to take away preset limitations set by Vauxhall, I am looking for a chip that has got a remapped ignition curve and most importantly a chip that will inject fuel on over-run to cool the piston tops. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
Not much you can do if you have O2 labda sensor. This sensor will make sure the engine runs lean (normal) in over-run. If you don't have a O2 sensor than uping the fuel pressure and/or making the idle mixture richer should give you extra fuel in over-run. You will not need to change the chip if you are happy with the rest of the chip performance.
There are a few 'debates' going on about the phase chips but I would still recommend them. Just make sure your fuelling system is in top condition aswell as the rest of your engine (i.e no knocks or rattles) before fitting ANY chips.
Im running a superchip, had no problems with it...find throttle responce very progressive and smooth...very drivable with good torque gains too!!
if you want to remap like the others say, get a uni chip you cant go wrong and it gives u scope for future upgrades etc....say for eg, you add some cams, an intercooler, uprated injectors later on, it can be mapped to take those variables into account, if u go for water injection, this chip can control that as well as boost control...also extra injectors!!
