On Sunday evening I noticed my oil warning light was on, I drove it carefully to a petrol station because the engine was making tappet noises.
I know they are hydrolic tappets so they were noisy because they had no oil, I only hope they are strong enough to run a couple of miles without oil.
I checked the oil level which was fine, I had only topped it up a couple of weeks ago. It was even still clean.
The engine is from an Astra GTE 16v and was not stripped down before the transplant but given fresh oil and cambelt. The engine has covered over 100k.
Is the oil pump likely to have failed or is it more likely that there is a blockage somewhere?
Any advice would be appreciated.
