Are these made of rubber, or something else maybe synthetic? I'm thinking about immersing a cylinder head stripped apart from valves, into a bath of clothes washing solution to clean it up a bit, followed by a blast with the showerhead to rinse. Anybody see any issues with this? The head has not been on that long so is quite clean anyway, but there is likely some debris from cleaning the cambox liquid gasket off, and the waterway seems to be slightly furred.
I did it in the end based on the presumption that most of the seals in the washing machine are probably rubber, the door seal certainly seems to be.
Pleased with the result, although not sure how well it would cope with a filthy head.
