Hi Guys, I am toying with the Idea of Replacing the 2.0i 16v engine in my Mk4 Astra with a C20 LET engine like I have in my Mk3 Astraturbo,
I am selling the Astra Mk3 next month and thinking of putting the same engine into my mk4 sri so I dont miss the speed too much,
I could do with knowing if the 6 speed box be fitted to the Mk4 like I have the Mk3?.
If I have to keep the Original Mk4 Gearbox (Think its an F23) what kind of power can it handle before problems will arise?
the mounting from vauxhall for astra sri works 28 quid iirc although has to be ordered,a late xe belt and tensioners kit and 1 rollerr from xev that sorts the dodgy mount side.then you will need a gearbox from either a 20di or a sri along with the shafts and hubs,if its later astra g with flyby throtle you will need to get a pedal from scrappys or 14 quid from vaux to accept throttle cable.wiring is the tricky bit to keep your fans etc as later astra's have can bus wiring that starts to get complicated.hope some of this helps
oops didnt read post properly doh
Hi Guys, Thanks for the comments,
Kabouter, Thanks for letting me know about the kits available,
TOM, I already have the Mk4 Astra and the guy interested in buying my Mk3 Astra is wanting to px me a turbo engine, so I have the parts and the car already so Turbo Chris's is not needed:beer: , What is the kit that costs £1,000, what is included or whats it's name so I can do a search on it in the old posts.
Daveybuc, Your comments were great, My car is the 2.0i 16v SRi 1999, does this mean I can use the original gearbox and driveshafts If I decided not to put the 6 speed in?.
use your box or f23 to save buying kit.
wiring is easy. just use the temperature sensor wire from mk4 loom up to engine and the rest you can cut and join behind the clocks so everythink works.
oh year starter alt ect match colours up to join wires.
a manual will help with wiring

mate if you have a sri chances are the mount will bolt onto your let(if its 2.0xev it will),the rollers are mounted onto the mount but one of the xe rollers dont fit so a ecotec roller from iirc 14,16v fits, hope this helps and your f23 will bolt upto the let, only probs i ecounted was wiring on the astra like fans temp gauge etc,was couple years back now and is a more common conversion so alot will be able to help you out
Many Thanks to you all, You've been a Great Help
Regards Bren
