thick red - battery, thin black - igntion switched feed, thick red/blue - fuel pump, brown/blue - ecu light. thin green - rev counter.
Cheers mate. It's better than nothingOriginally Posted by exciter
@Rodger: I've got the Mk2 Astra Haynes in PDF format which should cover it, but for some reason it's missing the transmission section. By the time it came around to the Mk3 Haynes which I have, they'd wimped out on gearbox stuff altogether.
My Cav Haynes only has the F13 and F16/5 exploded diagrams, but my scanner is dead at the moment![]()
what exaclty is it you need from the diagram? epc/tis not help?

I haven't got EPC/TIS. I'd just like to get an exploded diagram of all the parts with a list of what each part is. Not done anything too technical with gearboxes yet. I've got a noisy F20 here that I'm planning on stripping down to have a look and see what's going on in there and maybe learn a thing or twoOriginally Posted by rodgerq

jsut dive in with gearboxes
there is a hyanes gearbox manual about that covers most manufacturers but its hard to find.

Fixed broken gearbox calc :)
Sounds like fun lol. Strip it down today, spend two days piecing it all back together, to then discover I've been rewarded with an 8-speedOriginally Posted by cambridge

Just blown the dust off the top of my old Nova Haynes manual to discover there's a diagram of an F13 in there. I presume this should be pretty much the same as an F20....!?!

not at all the same.
the F20 all comes off from one end. where as the F10/13 comes off both ends and has a shoulder in the middle of the output shaft.

Guess I'll just have to start dismantling then![]()
aye just crack n. get a decent space where you can lay both shafts out one peice at a time and know the order of them. chances are the noises will be bearings anyway

mark t maybe help you ? he got me alt diagram ?
There must be something wrong with either the selectors or the synchros of 2nd and 4th aswell. Sometimes you only have 1st, 3rd and 5th to play with, other times you've got all 5 gears, but it doesn't feel too healthy selecting 2nd/4th. Speedo's not working either, despite the fact that the cable is ok.Originally Posted by rodgerq
Bit of a pain really. Broke an engine mount last weekend in my estate, or so I thought. Went to replace the mount (front pass side) last Sunday to discover that the mount was ok, but two of the three bolts had sheared off inside the gearbox and wouldn't budgeTried drilling/stud removers etc - no good. The stud remover eventually broke in one of the holes aswell, which meant it was even harder to try and drill the hole out
Didn't have time to mess around after that, so decided to swap the box for one out of a Calibra I've got for spares. Went fine for the first few miles, no whining or trouble selecting gears. Then the whining/rumbling started, then 2nd and 4th started coming and going
And yes, there is plenty of oil in it lol.
Planning on fitting the gearset and diff from the old box with the sheared bolts into the case with the whining gears now. Then strip down the whining gearset and start learning a few things.
Perhaps this may be a little more use than that low res version

your best bet is the early astra gte haynes manual (the red thick one) which has a gearbox rebuild section with very detailed step by step strip down process with pictures and exploded diagrams. haynes book number is 1136, but that was superceded by the common dark blue manual with the same number.
ebay or vauxhall fairs are your best bet to find it. i got one at billing for 3 quid in VGC condition.
That's probably the one I have in .PDF form that's unfortunately missing the transmission section. I'll have to keep my eyes peeled for the book. Shame they couldn't have carried all the info across to the Mk3 manual.
