Crankshaft oil seal on 8v Cav
Anyone tell me how hard it is to change the crankshaft oil seal ??
Its for a 115BHP 2.0 8v Cavalier (20NE I think)
Which one? Oil pump end (front) or gearbox (rear)?
Front not that hard, but the bolt in the centre of the crank pulley is a bitch! Rip all the pulley's ect out and screw a self-taper into the seal to pull it out.
Rear oil seal is a bitch as the flywheel has to come out! Haynes recons that the engine has to come out, might be able to get away with just the gearbox though?
According to Haynes there is only one that I can see for the 8 valve Cavalier engine........
there is two for any engine, otherwise how do you stop engine oil getting through to the clutch and flywheel. If your talking about changing the cambelt end then treat it as you would your turbo engine.
