how to stop rear crank main seal leaking

why is it its always the rear crank main seal that leaks?
and not the easiest one to install
how have u installed yours without or without sealant? and did it ever leak?

think i used rtv between the outter lip and the block, as its what haynes manual said. its a tricky area what with teh grooved main cap to seal also. and the fact the flywheel holes go right the way through to the crank case, so its possible that oil could come down their thread into the clutch face, if not threadlocked.

flywheel bolts i bought new from GM, came already with threadlock in the thread, i didnt double lock them..
i did install this seal before i put that last bearing cap in though. maybe this is why its leaking so bad, coz it disorted the seal somehow.. its an annoying seal! ill try again
as well as taking the sump off, getting another brand new gasket, panning the sump and then doing it all again! grr
