how do the way different pistons connect to the rods... I ask this because I'm curious about a piston set for a 1.6L XE which have 81.50mm bore size which is exactly the same as the 2.5 litre v6.

If anyone knows if this would be suitable can they let me know, cheers

well usually theres one of two options

either the pin is an interference fit with the piston and "floats" on the little end with oil pressure

or the pin isnt an interference fit at all, is held inplace in the piston with circlips and floats on the little end

the problem isnt just the bore however, the distance between the pin and top of the piston will differ and the pin diameter might be different too

if the deck height of the piston isnt correct then the piston could stick out the top of the block or not even reach the top and stop short

u'd really need to get a piston catalog and look up the specs
