My engine decided to pack up on Friday night , I got a lot of steam from under the bonnet and upon closer inspection there was NO water in it , although we had only filled it up again 1 hour earlier.. There was a small pool of oil on the floor nothing major looks to be coming from around seal on the sump.. heres a bit of background to what we'd done with the engine to see if you can help me work out whats happened:
Had overheated earlier in the day due to the fan switch being disconnected(this was sorted out )
The temperature sensor kept detatching itself due to the wire needing to be extended.
We actually managed to start it again once after filling it with water but it sounded really rough and spluttery and died after about 30 seconds.
'Checked all plugs are on correctly and dizzy cap is secure(although not checked inside it yet)
The engine is a 1800E that we put in only days ago which up until then had been running fine apart from the exhaust system needing replacing which was imminent.
Ive started it once since and it fired up first time but again sounded very rough and spluttery.
Help please as Ive no idea what to do , really p'd off now
